PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WLOX) - Tuesday night, officials confirmed two people are dead after a vehicle collided with an Amtrak train in Pass Christian.

Amtrak officials say the crash happened at approximately 7:08 p.m. near Davis Avenue when the train struck a vehicle obstructing the track.

The train, part of the Mardi Gras Service, was expected to drop passengers off in Gulfport at 7:32 p.m., Biloxi at 7:56 p.m., Pascagoula at 8:28 p.m., and end in Mobile at 9:14 p.m.

Pass Christian Police Chief Daren Freeman confirmed that the two people in the vehicle were killed in the crash. Their identities are being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
