KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — After receiving community feedback, Emerald Youth Foundation and the city of Knoxville updated their proposed contract, which would sell part of Chilhowee Park to Emerald to build a youth development complex.

The update guarantees that the part of the property used for sports fields will be used for recreation forever, Emerald Youth said. It also added "a written commitment regarding accessibility by the community at large, including an open green space playing field."

Next, the update doubled the restriction period from 20 to 40 years. This means that the property must be used as Emerald had proposed for at least 40 years. It also extended the right of first refusal from 20 to 40 years. Additionally, Emerald Youth committed in the update to keep as many matur
