NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Communities in East Tennessee are still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The storm unleashed historic flooding through Unicoi County one year ago. Six employees of a plastics factory were swept away.

WSMV4 recently went back to the Industrial Park in Erwin, Tennessee, where it all happened, to check on how they are doing now.

One year ago, Ron Kell drove his tractor through floodwaters from Hurricane Helene, trying to save workers at Impact Plastics. Kell owns R&R Manufacturing nearby in the Industrial Park and said he tried to rescue workers at the plastics factory after he had already sent his employees home.

Ultimately, six Impact Plastics employees ended up losing their lives in the flooding that day. Kell said some of their family members
