BOSTON (WWLP) - The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores for 2025 have been released, revealing a decline in student performance across the state.
This is the first set of MCAS results since the 2024 ballot question that removed the MCAS standardized testing as a high school graduation requirement.
Despite this change, Massachusetts students continue to take the test to assess their academic progress. The 2025 results for 10th graders show a 6% decrease in English Language Arts (ELA) scores and a 3% decrease in math scores compared to 2024. Additionally, the scores have dropped even further compared to 2019 levels.
