HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - State officials have released the latest MCAS test results, revealing that schools in Massachusetts continue to face learning challenges in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year's results show that only 55% of schools made substantial progress toward or exceeded their goals, a decrease from 60% last year.

In English, 42% of students in grades 3 through 8 met or exceeded expectations, marking a slight increase but still falling short of pre-pandemic levels. Math scores remained unchanged.

Governor Maura Healey responded to the results, stating, "This is the reason I put forward those investments in literacy and high-dose tutoring. I know that there was going to be a drop because of what we went through in COVID."
