At 5:14 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood statement in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m. for Queens as well as Suffolk and Nassau counties.
The weather service adds to anticipate, "Surf building to 6 to 10 feet along the Atlantic oceanfront."
"Large breaking waves will result in beach flooding and erosion with only minor damage expected to dune structures. Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone. Stay out of the water," describes the weather service. "Do not drive through flooded roadways."
