EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Students at Michigan State University are diving into a course centered on Taylor Swift this fall.

The class, ISS 210 Society and the Individual: The Taylor Swift Phenomenon, explores Swift’s cultural impact through economic, political, environmental, historical, and gender-based lenses.

Emily Muhich, an assistant professor in the College of Social Science, is teaching the course.

She plans to examine gender criticism, the concept of belonging, and how Swift can serve as a lens to understand the broader influence of pop culture.
