MUSKEGON, MI - A complete resurfacing of several high-traffic streets downtown Muskegon begins this week.
The work will be completed in two phases.
The first phase, which will be Western Ave. from Eighth St. to Fourth St., is scheduled to begin the first week of October.
While work is occurring, the street may be closed one block at a time, said Dan VanderHeide, deputy director of public works.
The remaining sections are planned for fall 2026.
Those include:
Western Avenue from Fourth St. to Terrace St.
Seventh St. from Western Ave. to Shoreline Dr.
Sixth St. from Western Ave. toward Clay Ave. (up to the alley)
No changes will be made to the street layout, curbs or traffic patterns, according to the city’s website .
