FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Animal Partisan , a national animal rights non-profit, filed a complaint against the Indiana State Police for their handling of an accident involving 185 calves.

It happened on October 7 last year. A semi-truck carrying the animals flipped over on I-65.

Will Lowrey, legal counsel for Animal Partisan, says the organization filed public records requests as soon as they got word of the accident, acquiring body-worn-camera footage, or BWC, from that day.

“The story here is really, I would say, twofold. One, it is the inhumane treatment of the calves. I mean, we have calves who are grievously injured from the accident (...) And many of them are just being dragged out, you know, dragged across the metal sides of the trailer,” Lowrey said.
