A 90-year-old downtown Phoenix industrial laundry building was purchased by a Chicago-based developer, ending a contentious issue that pitted the property owner against historic preservation.
The building, known as Milum Textile Services, was first occupied in 1909 but burned down and was rebuilt in 1935 using some original material, according to Phoenix documents. It had been in Craig Milum’s family since the 1950s and operated as a laundry until the family closed it about six years ago. It is located at Van Buren Street and Seventh Avenue and includes multiple buildings, as well as a storage yard and parking lot.
