All the parts of the UK set to be hit by snow in a 48-hour blast in October have been revealed . WX Charts reveals blotches of purple on the weather maps and charts for the tenth month of the year.

The snow could start around October 15 and last until October 17. Areas impacted include Grampian - one of nine local government regions of Scotland - as well as Highland. Aberdeenshire, Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey are at risk alongside Caithness, Inverness, Lochaber, Nairn, Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh and Sutherland.

Meteorologist Jim Dale said: "Snow in England during October is now an unusual event, one could even say a rarity. It takes a northerly outbreak to happen at all, and even then it tends to be northern hills only.
