The UK faces "48 hours of snow" in October as weather maps and charts lay bare the wintriness which lies ahead in the tenth month of the year. UK weather maps have turned purple and show the exact dates Britain could be blasted by 48 hours of snow.
The white stuff is expected in the Highlands in Scotland, north of the border from us in England, from late night on October 15, with snow falling for the next two days into the early hours of October 17.
Areas hit by the wintry showers include Fort William and Inverness, with as much as 2cm of snow falling expected to be falling every hour. Snow is set to cover the Scottish Highlands and the Grampian area.
