Police Scotland has issued advice as Storm Amy is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds today.

The Met Office previously issued a yellow weather warning for Glasgow and much of Scotland. It is in place from 3pm on Friday, October 3 to 11.59pm on Saturday, October 4. A yellow warning for rain has also in place from 12pm to 23.59pm on Friday.

Meteorologists are warning of damage to buildings, power cuts, danger to life and transport routes being affected as heavy gusts rip through the region.

The strongest winds currently look more likely over parts of northern Scotland but the warning includes everywhere from Clydebank to Shetland and from Bellshill to Aberdeen, showing a range of locations in Amy's line of fire. Those in affected areas are being urged to stay cautious
