Thirty-five people demonstrated against the war in Gaza outside the Ohio Building on Madison Avenue in downtown Toledo on Friday morning.

Six of them were arrested after a peaceful, hourlong encounter with police.

The arrests, which were preplanned and announced in a news release from the protesters before the event, were made after the six blocked the main entrance by sitting down in front of it.

Prior to that, the entire group had yellow crime scene tape draped in front of the entrance but allowed people to enter and leave the building by going underneath it.

Organizer Mike Ferner, a former Toledo city councilman and two-time Toledo mayoral candidate, said the Ohio Building was chosen because it houses the Toledo office of U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R., Ohio).
