ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man was sentenced Thursday to 17 years in prison for a December shooting outside a Canandaigua bar that injured a woman and rattled the small community.

Leon McDaniel, 34, will also serve five years of post-release supervision following his conviction for first-degree assault in connection with the December 28, 2024, incident outside Bubby’s Tavern on Phoenix Street. He pleaded guilty in September.

The shooting occurred just before midnight, when police responded to reports of a fight outside the tavern. Authorities said McDaniel fired multiple shots into a crowd before fleeing the scene.

A 38-year-old woman was struck in the arm and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
