The Town of Qualicum Beach started hearing from the public formally on Monday about its plan to buy the Eaglecrest Golf Course.
Hundreds have gathered in Qualicum Beach for a public hearing that could dramatically change the town’s future.
“This is really a landmark, monumental decision for council,” said Luke Sales, the Town’s director of planning and community development.
The town has a conditional agreement to purchase the 105 acre Eaglecrest Golf Course for $8.5 million. The Town first announced the proposal in July.
For the 9,300 people living in Qualicum Beach, that works out to more than $900 a person, but it won’t come to that figure. The town recently received a $2.1 million donation to help pay for part of it and the remaining amount it plans to pay for by selling off about
