SHREVEPORT, La. - It’s one of northwest Louisiana’s brightest holiday traditions, and this year, it almost faced uncertainty.

The Caddo Commission’s Economic Development Committee voted Thursday to contribute $50,000 to the Gardens of the American Rose Society to help keep Christmas in Roseland glowing -- even as the organization undergoes a major restructuring. The recommendation goes to the commission Thursday for a final vote

The discussion began when Commissioner Kenneth Epperson recommended the parish support the event.

“They’ve been with us since 1972,

a good, strong economic engine. That

area is growing exponentially. This

would be a great catalyst to continue

that in the future,” he said.
