The Albanese government has been accused of undeniably assisting ISIS brides to return to Australia, despite repeated assertions they travelled home of their own accord.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese previously insisted reports of repatriation were “not accurate” before it was revealed two ISIS brides and four children returned to Australia.

He later told reporters “Australia did not provide assistance” when pressed about his government’s involvement in the cohort’s return.

Shadow finance minister James Paterson told Sky News that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s handling of the issue had been “contemptuous" from the very start.

Mr Paterson said that despite Mr Albanese’s insistence, the government did in fact assist ISIS brides to return to Australia.
