BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Good afternoon!

Today: A weak low-pressure system over Arkansas is helping spread a few showers into the western part of central Alabama late this morning.

As a front moves in from the northwest later today, showers should become a little more widespread through the afternoon, especially across central and northeastern areas. A rumble of thunder could pop up here or there, but rainfall amounts look light overall, with the heaviest rain most likely staying up toward northwest Alabama.

By Wednesday, that front should slide south of most of the area.

Temperatures this afternoon should be close to 85, then settle into the upper 60s tonight.

The Next 24 Hours: Cooler and drier air should begin to ease in behind the front. Highs Wednesday look to be near 82,
