HAMPTON, Va. — Officials say rumors of a shooting on Tuesday at Phoebus High School are false.

Hampton Police Division spokesman Cpl. Shaun Stalnaker said, “We are asking people to stop sharing information regarding a shooting at Phoebus High School. There was no shooting at Phoebus High School.”

Kellie Goral, spokeswoman for Hampton City Schools, reiterated the message.

“There have been no incidents at the school today that would have prompted such a rumor,” Goral stated.

Goral also shared the following message sent to families:

“Good afternoon, Phoebus families, this is Executive Principal Mr. Coccoli with an important message.

We, as well as the Hampton Police Division, are aware that false information is circulating on the Ring and NextDoor apps alleging that there was a shooting
