DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A cyberattack was neutralized in the city of Piqua, preventing further consequences to the city's internal infrastructure.
The city said that one of staff member's email account was compromise and used to send malicious emails to their contact list and others.
The account has been secured since the hack, with staff taking measures to prevent a repeated issue.
The city's information systems were not impacted.
"The City of Piqua remains diligent in maintaining the security of the information of its customers, employees and infrastructure," the city said in a statement.
