PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Crews are battling a fire at a recycling plant in Vancouver, and it may not be out until Thursday morning, fire officials said.

Vancouver Fire crews said that Metro Metals staff called 911 at around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday night to report a fire in a large metal scrap pile.

While crews responded, fire officials said that a decent wind pushed the fire, worsening conditions.

Officials at the scene told KOIN 6 News that the fire sprang up rapidly and they are having a hard time putting it out due to the lack of water supplies and difficult access.
