SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A busy and dangerous Sumner County intersection may finally be getting some much-needed and potentially life-saving improvements.
The intersection of Long Hollow Pike and Latimer Lane has been a problem spot for years. Sumner County Commissioner Jeremy Mansfield told News 2 it's only gotten worse since a school was built in the area.
This week the Sumner County Highway Commission addressed the issue.
Residents shared concerns about the intersection, including several near-miss crashes and fears turning onto Long Hollow Pike. The Highway Commission agreed something needs to be done—likely a red light—to give people the chance to turn without fearing for their lives.
Mansfield told News 2 the discussion is long overdue.
