SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Texas State Representative Drew Darby has officially announced his 2026 reelection campaign.

Darby, who has been the representative for the 72nd district since 2007, has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, Governor Greg Abbott, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Congressmen August Pfluger and Jodey Arrington, and Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, according to the official press release.

According to the press release, Darby's legislative achievements include: • Protecting Families & Camp Safety: Authored HB 1, the Youth CAMPER Act, and sponsored SB 1, the Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act, creating the strongest camp safety standards in Texas history. • Strengthening Our Rural Communities: $8 billion for schools and teacher pay raises; expanded homes
