FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) -- The cooler temperatures outside are perfect for the annual Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival, on the Chinese calendar.
It is one of the biggest celebrations in the Asian culture, and Frederick is observing it in a big way.
The holiday has been celebrated for 3,000 years around the fall harvest.
T.J. Sydykov with the Asian American Community Center is planning the local observance.
"Moon Festival is one of the larger holidays for the Asian American community," Sydykov said. "This is our first year bringing it to Frederick."
The moon is central to the celebration since it "gives light" to the harvest.
