WOONSOCKET – Two Globe Park Elementary School students are facing firearm charges after police said they brought an airgun to school on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Oates III said the 10-year-old and 11-year-old boys were observed handling what appeared to be a pistol around 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 8. School staff immediately contacted the department’s Juvenile Bureau, which determined the weapon was an airgun capable of firing multiple types of projectiles. Because of that capability, Oates said, it is classified under state law as a firearm.
