NORWALK, Conn. (WFSB) — A pickup truck driver was hospitalized Thursday night after crashing at full speed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95.
The Norwalk Fire Department responded to the crash on I-95 northbound between exits 15 and 16 at 11:12 p.m. Thursday, according to officials.
Firefighters arrived to find the pickup truck’s entire front end wedged under the rear of the tractor-trailer, with the truck’s sole occupant pinned inside the vehicle.
Emergency crews worked to remove the pickup truck’s door while simultaneously lifting the trailer to free the trapped driver, fire officials said.
The pickup truck driver, who remained conscious and alert throughout the rescue, was transported to Norwalk Hospital.
His current condition has not been released.
