VIENNA, Virginia — The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department is asking for the public's help to save a longtime holiday tradition. Every year, the fire department drives around Santa in an antique fire truck that is nearly 80 years old. But now, that truck is in need of some major repairs.
The fire department is trying to raise $50,000 to fix up the truck so that the fire department can make its runs around town this holiday season.
"Our 1946 Maxim fire truck 'Santa’s sleigh' has recently suffered some major mechanical failures. The engine was losing coolant faster than the elves could refill it and persistent electrical issues with lights and starter motors keep us off the road quite often. After being towed to Santa’s workshop the elves came back with bad news," the fire department said in
