LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Homes along West Basic Road in Henderson received free improvements as part of Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada’s "Make a Difference Day."
Volunteers trimmed trees, cleaned yards, painted home address numbers and entire houses. It’s not the first time Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada has been to the neighborhood — the organization made critical repairs to some of the homes.
“Our average client lives off of $21,000 a year, and a brand new air conditioner costs $16,000,” Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada CEO Bob Cleveland said. “There's just no way they can afford it. We have so many clients that don't have air conditioning for two, three, four years. Can you imagine living in your house in July for one day without an air conditioner? And they do it for years.”
