A convicted Renfrewshire thug has been found guilty of killing a man in a brutal knife attack. ‌

Derek Docherty stabbed Sean Dock at a flat in Renfrew’s Tennant Street on May 13, 2023. The 36-year-old later tried to stop police getting into the property. He also cleaned the knife used in the attack. ‌

Mr Dock, 35, tragically never survived the blow. Docherty had denied a charge of murder during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. He was subsequently found guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide. ‌

After the verdict, prosecutor Scott McKenzie revealed Docherty already had a lengthy criminal record.

This included two previous high court convictions for aggravated assault. He was also guilty of weapons charges and drug trafficking.
