A man was shot multiple times in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood on Monday afternoon, police said.

No arrests had been made shortly after the shooting, reported on Washington Street near Lenox Street about 1:07 p.m., Boston police said. The person who was shot had life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to a local hospital while police began investigating what happened. The department said a block of Washington Street would be closed, from Lenox to Northampton streets.

Police didn't immediately share more information on what happened.
