ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A 16-year-old boy is stable in a hospital after being wounded by a hunter, according to the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called about 11 a.m. Saturday, October 11, to the 1900 block of Starrett Road, where the teen had been shot through a window of his home, according to investigators.

The boy’s family drove him to a hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office worked with Virginia State Police and Virginia Conservation Police to find the shooter, and tracked a man who had been hunting in the area.

Malcolm Matthew Vest, 26 of Rockbridge County, was charged with felony reckless handling of a firearm, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
