A woman was found dead and dismembered by dogs at her Blount County home.

According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey, the woman's body was found around 4 p.m. Saturday at her home in Remlap. Blount County sheriff's deputies responded to the home for a welfare check after she had not been seen for weeks and her mailbox was full.

Investigators believe the woman had a medical episode on the stairs outside her home and was attacked by dogs believed to be her own.

No foul play is suspected in her death, but the incident is under investigation by the sheriff's office and the county coroner's office.
