HOMEWOOD, Ala. —
City leaders in Homewood take action regarding encampments on city property.
The Homewood City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Monday that gives police more authority to address public encampments and overnight sleeping on city property.
Officers can now order people to leave encampments or vehicles, with possible arrest if they return.
City leaders said the goal is to address safety concerns, not punish homelessness.
