A man was shot to death Monday on the west end of Hemet, but no suspects were immediately identified.

The attack happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Florida Avenue, near South Sanderson Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said witnesses called 911 to report shots fired, and patrol officers reached the location within a few minutes, locating “a deceased male with a … gunshot wound.”

The victim was not immediately identified.

There was no word on a search for possible suspects, or a motive.

“This is an active homicide investigation,” the police department stated.
