WINONA, Texas (KETK) - Smith County Emergency Services District 2 is currently responding to a grass fire on Interstate 20 West near Winona.

Firefighters with Smith County Emergency Services District 2 (ESD2) were dispatched to the westbound shoulder of Interstate 20 near mile marker 565 at around 3 p.m. on Monday after an 18-wheeler tire exploded and started a fire.

Smith County ESD2 said the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured, and firefighters have contained the fire. Traffic on Interstate 20 is expected to be cleared up soon.
