PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A viral Facebook post from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office sparked outrage — after deputies publicly shared the mugshot of a 9-year-old boy accused of threatening classmates with a knife.

The post, which has more than 47,000 comments , shows the child’s booking photo and arrest details. Many online are calling it inappropriate to post a minor’s image, while others defend the sheriff’s office for being transparent.

Officials say the decision follows a policy the agency has upheld since 2018.
