Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found with critical injuries at a home in Perth's north.

Emergency services were called to the property on Dimitrios Court in the suburb of Hocking at about 6.45am on Tuesday.

Paramedics tried desperately to save the man, who had suffered life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to Joondalup Health Campus where he later died.

Neighbour Doris Sinclair said she felt shocked and scared after hearing about the man's death.

"It's really hard to come back from my shopping and hear this, its really shocking," she said.

"We can't understand it, its really scary. My heart is going 90 miles an hour.

"It's not right, you can't even leave your house now. Years ago you used to walk your dog 8pm at night but you can't now, your kids can't go o
