GREER, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The City of Greer announced a field dedication ceremony to honor a man who left a lasting impact.
Lonnie McGee, known around Greer as “Gee,” passed away earlier this year .
McGee led the Greer High School marching band in the city’s annual Christmas parade and could be found on the sidelines of Greer Youth Football, cheering on the teams.
The Greer City Council voted to name the athletic field at Greer City Stadium the Lonnie McGee Stadium.
The field dedication will be Oct. 20, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and the ceremony starting at 5:45 p.m.
