LAKE WORTH, Texas — A 47-year-old woman is recovering after what police describe as a violent dog attack at a Lake Worth park last week, and officers are still searching for the dog’s owner.

According to Lake Worth police, the woman called 911 on Oct. 8 to report that she had been attacked by a brown pit bull at Dakota Dog Park in the 3200 block of Dakota Trail. Officers arrived to find her bleeding and provided first aid until paramedics arrived. She was taken to a hospital in stable but serious condition.

In an interview with WFAA, her son, Crystian Pate, said his mother had gone to the park for what was supposed to be a peaceful evening before the dog charged through an open gate.

She phoned her family after the attack unfolded.
