Police were called to an incident in Edinburgh's city centre on Monday evening, with officers searching the area.

They were made aware of a group of men causing a 'disturbance' at around 7.20pm on October 13. Police say there was 'no trace of anyone in the area'.

Enquiries are ongoing.

STV News has said a group of three men confronted a group of two in the middle of the street near Waverley, with all involved wearing black balaclavas.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a group of men causing a disturbance on Princes Street in Edinburgh around 7.20pm on Monday, 13 October, 2025.

"The area has been searched with no trace of anyone in the area and no one has presented as injured. Enquiries are ongoing."
