New Delhi: Meta announced that teenagers using Instagram will now see only PG-13 content by default, and they cannot modify these settings without parental approval, marking a major step in protecting young users from harmful material.
Under the updated rules, teen-specific accounts will display photos and videos similar to a PG-13 movie rating, excluding content that depicts sex, drugs, dangerous stunts, or other potentially harmful material. In a blog post, Meta explained that posts featuring strong language, risky stunts, or items like marijuana paraphernalia will either be hidden or not recommended to teens. The company called this update the most significant change since introducing teen accounts last year.
