According to the Brodhead Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 7 a.m. to a working residential fire in Mount Vernon.

Firefighters from Brodhead, Mount Vernon, and Brindle Ridge fire departments responded.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the home.

No one was inside the home, but one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Red Cross is helping the residents after the home sustained major damage.

No word yet on the cause of the fire.
