GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County’s interim school superintendent could stay on for another year.
School board members seemed open to extending Dr. Kamela Patton’s contract until June 2027 while they search for a long-term superintendent.
No action was taken Wednesday night.
Board members plan to announce a request for proposals to find a search firm at their meeting on Nov. 4.
Patton said she’s willing to stay.
She is paid an annual base salary of $234,000.
A permanent superintendent could be named in early 2027, and board members said the new superintendent could have a six-month transitional period.
