SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation will perform bridge beam repairs over Interstate 215 at the mouth of Parley’s Canyon nightly from Thursday until Oct. 25.
As early as 9 p.m., crews will close I-215 near Tanner Park to repair three beams of the eastbound bridge. Interstate 80 will remain open throughout the night, and I-215 will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning.
According to UDOT Public Relations Director John Gleason, UDOT officials believe that the bridge was damaged by an oversized truck earlier this year.
“It’s damage that we want to get fixed so that we can get the life out of the bridge that we expect,” Gleason said in an interview with KSL NewsRadio. “[The damage] doesn’t look significant, but it is work that needs to happen.”
