Liberal MP Julian Leeser has lashed the Albanese government’s decision to continue resettling refugees from Gaza after a peace deal was signed, warning "we need to be very careful about who it is that we’re bringing into this country".
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke revealed this week that 600 to 700 Gazans could soon arrive in Australia, adding to the nearly 2,000 who have already been granted entry since late 2024.
The announcement has reignited a fierce debate over security checks and border controls, with critics accusing the government of negligence.
