CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — It may be hard to believe, but the winter months are almost here. The town of Cary is making sure its public works staff is ready to respond to any weather event through their annual snow rodeo.

More than 300 of Cary's public works personnel are here in the maintenance yard making sure they're not caught off guard this winter. That includes employees who are new to this job and those with decades of experience.

The teams spent the day ensuring all their equipment is in good shape and that they know how to use it.

The annual Snow Rodeo also allows the public works department to identify any equipment in need of repair before we really get into the thick of leaf collection or winter storms.

Cary is responsible for maintaining nearly 800 miles of streets. They have 75
