HOLDEN, Maine (WABI) - Nobody was hurt, but a garage was destroyed in a fire in Holden Friday.

Emergency crews were called to Clewelyville Road just after 10:30 this morning.

Holden’s Fire Chief says the owners returned home to see flames shooting out of the building.

Amid intense flames fueled by exploding gas containers stored in the garage, opening the metal garage doors to get water on the fire was a challenge.

There was some exterior damage to the main residence, but that’s all.

Considering what they were dealing with, the chief calls it a good save, thanks in large part to mutual aid, as an Eddington fire truck was actually the first to get there.
