CASA GRANDE, AZ (AZFamily) — A pilot is hospitalized after a small plane crashed while trying to land near a Pinal County airport early Friday afternoon.
Around 1:15 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a plane experiencing engine failure during a flight between Tucson and Phoenix. The pilot was attempting to land near Casa Grande Municipal Airport.
Crews arrived in the area moments later and found the plane upside down just outside the airport property. There was no smoke or fire.
First responders helped the pilot, who was conscious and alert, out of the plane, and he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.
The FAA will investigate the cause of the crash.
