RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - After pleading guilty to three charges, Julian Hutton-Reed was sentenced to life in prison on Friday, Oct. 17, in the August 2023 deadly shooting near the University of Nevada, Reno, according to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges were murder with the use of a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, and destroying evidence.
There is parole eligibility after 20 years with a consecutive sentence of imprisonment in the Nevada Department of Corrections for at least eight years to a maximum of 20 years for the use of a deadly weapon.
Hutton-Reed was sentenced to concurrent time for the other two charges.
Hutton-Reed was arrested after a shooting at an apartment complex across the street from Lawlor Events Center.
